5 Rivers Northeast
Over the weekend of September 27/28, chapter members Owen Ward and Steve Zakur joined the Northeast 5 Rivers College Rendezvous in Danby, Vermont. There, 5 Rivers college students from across the region—from New York to Maine—met for a weekend of conservation, fishing, and comradeship.
In addition to angling and fellowship, the event included a visit to the American Fly Fishing Museum and a tour of the Orvis rod factory.
The capstone event was a tree-planting event along Otter Creek and Baker Brook. Students and volunteers planted three hundred trees. This was followed by fishing for brook, brown, and rainbow trout in various locations around the watershed.
GUVTU will be planning more events with the 5 Rivers club at Dartmouth University. Look for announcements later this fall.
Thanks to Cliff Watson and Jeff Yates for inviting the chapter to this fantastic event!
