Wood is good!
As every angler knows, fish like to hang out in wood. Often, the largest trout in a stream can be found in a tangle of streamside logs. Those fish are hard to hook and even harder to land. But wood in the stream also has another benefit. It’s the place that small fish get their start.
Vermont Fish and Wildlife has been collaborating with Trout Unlimited to enhance stream habitats through the judicious addition of wood to streams. You can check out the coverage and results of that work in the VT Digger.
